Alhaj Khalilur Rahman: Driving Bangladesh’s Industrial Growth Since 1967
Alhaj khalilur Rahman is a prominent industrialist, banker and social worker of Bangladesh. For more than five decades, he has played an improtent role in the development of the country’s industry financial sector and education.
He was born on April 10,1945, in the village of Saidair, Patiyar, Chittagong . He started his business in 1967 with limited resources. Form the beginning, His goal was to create employment and contribute to the contry’s economy
In 1983, he established KDS Garments in Chittagong. This was his first major industrial venture. A new chapter in his industrial journey began with this company. Later, the KDS Group was formed from this venture.
He is currently the founder and chairman of KDS Group. KDS Group is a diversified industrial group whose activities span the garment, textile, steel, logistics, packaging, information technology, banking, insurance and investment sectors. Currently, the group employs more than 45,000 people and is making a significant contribution to the export economy of Bangladesh.
In May 2024, Bangladesh Bank appointed him as the Chairman of National Bank PLC. He is also serving as the Sponsor Director of the bank. He is also one of the founding entrepreneurs of Al-Arafah Islami Bank and a shareholder of Pragati insurance and pragati Life Insurance.
He is also providing important leadership in the country’s business and trade sector. He is the President of the Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and industry. He is the President of the Bangladesh Inland Container Depot Association and the chairman of the Bangladesh CR Coil Manufacturers and Exproters Association

In addition to business, he is actively involved in education and social service. He is the founding Chairman of Southern University Bangladesh. He has established many schools, colleges and educational institutions in Chittagong and surrounding areas. His goal is to develop the next generation as skilled human resources through education.
He has been recognized as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) for his contribution to business and industry. Under his leadership, KDS Group has won multiple national export trophies and international awards.
He believes that business success must be accompanied by social responsibility. He regularly contributes to education, healthcare, employment and social welfare.
With more than five decades of experience, he is still working for entrepreneurship creation, industrial development and long-term economic progress of the country.
